Let us illustrate the root cause for the decline of values among the human beings .
Let us assume five generations as A,B,C,D,and E
Generation A explained the philosophy, health benefits hidden behind the rituals to their sibilings B ,B followed it perfectly but just taught the rituals without explaining the hidden philosophy or the benefit of following it to their siblings C.C followed it blindly, mechanically without knowing the fact as they had the respect for elders.C taught the rituals to D.D started the enquiry of the the principle or use of following these rituals but the C was not able to explain the fact. C suppressed and forced the D to follow blindly as these were followed by them without questioning the B.C also added that D has no respect .But it was the urge of D to understand everything deeply.D stopped following and simply came to the conclusion that those rituals were humbug.E went on searching the principle and found its value and started following them with the knowledge.
The Indian philosophy of Advaita Vedanta explains that we suffer as a result of our avidya (ignorance) and maya (misconceived, misinterpreted views of Reality). According to this philosophy, acquiring the awareness of Brahmavidya (direct perception or awareness of Reality) alleviates this deep source of suffering. Only this awareness directly leads us to moksha (liberationBrahmavidya is an ancient system of Yoga and Philosophy. In ancient Sanskrit philosophical literature the term Brahma is used to denote the Supreme Being, which is commonly called as God Hence Brahmavidya is a teaching, which leads to knowledge of Brahma - God.
This system maintains that spiritual functions are related to physiological functions of ductless glands. It emphasizes the role of meditation in realizing the spiritual nature of a person and uses exercises involving breathing to support and nurture related physiological ability. The subconscious mind is assigned the central role in bringing about physiological and spiritual transformation. Exercises related to the subconscious mind are therefore also crucial to this system.

A Hindu marriage joins two individuals for life, so that they can pursue dharma (duty), artha (possessions), kama (physical desires), and moksa (ultimate spiritual release) togetherIt is at once a gateway to earthly life of pleasure, progress, prosperity and joy as it is also an altar of elevation to a level of spiritual experience.
In traditional Hindu marriages, the husband is regarded as the manifestation of Lord Vishnu and his wife as the goddess Laxmi; his wife not only accepts him for her life, but also regards him as pati permeshwar (pati is husband and parmeshwar is supreme god). In modern times, equal rights for women and a modern jurisdiction have offered marriage out of love and civil marriage, different from the traditional arranged marriages.
Nowadays marriages are based on the bridges of expectations. In olden days husband is considered as GURU as he shares the BRAHMAVIDHYA to his wife and siblings and thereby to the society, but now the husband needs a wife who brings money, who serves his parents and him without any recognition in the family, while the wife expects good money maker, caretaker and a romance shower as shown in the films..In olden days the elders have a broad mind to accept everyone out of their mistakes as they gained brahmavidhya, they were wise and behaved well to others of the family irrespective of all descriptions. So they were respected by all others. But nowadays elders without knowing brahmavidhya expect respect without having good behaviour or quality within them and simply finding fault with the young generation that they have no respect or obedience for elders.Respect towards elders should not be taught but felt and shown.
A joint family is similar to a garden where all flowering plants, shrubs and trees are grown., in a family ,there will be people of different characters, habits etc. In olden days each member of the family had same recognition in the family and they had the freedom to question and participate in decision making was allowed by the head of the family.
Nowadays due to the lack of brahmavidhya selfishness increased ,love, care, respect, unity vanished from the family only pretendence can be found.Nowadays, some parents whose children earn a high remuneration such as software engineers have a tendency to prevent their children to get married as they lose their income from them.In olden days parents try to solve the problems between their son and daughterin law ,but now the parents wants their couples to get separated from their spouse so they turn the problem to be worse.
